Hidden Cameras and Why You Need Them

February 28th, 2020

It’s always a good idea to add a layer of security to the confines of your Blue Ridge, GA home. Keeping your family and property safe is always worth the investment, and one of the simplest, but most effective ways to do this is by having a video surveillance system in the form of security cameras. Installing a hidden camera, in particular, is a good way to go about it, and we’ll give you a few reasons as to why this is the case.

They Record Quality Video Evidence of Crimes

Statistics have shown that burglaries are more likely to occur during the day, while you are away. A visible set of security cameras is actually more likely to deter a break-in from an uninvited guest like a burglar, but what if the burglar wasn’t actually uninvited? Visitors are more likely to have second thoughts about committing crimes within your home, like destruction of private property, or burglary, if they know they are being watched. It also opens the possibility of them destroying the cameras to ensure they are not caught, because they are aware of where the cameras are. Having a hidden camera, or obscuring them, will make sure that any evidence of suspicious behavior is caught on camera, such as destroying or hiding evidence of any crime occurring.

Immediately Spot Signs of Abuse

Another major reason to have hidden cameras around the house is to keep an eye on the babysitter, and what they might do to your children. The number of instances of child abuse by a neglectful caretaker has been rising in recent years, and often arises from irresponsible behavior from the caregiver, such as alcohol or drug abuse. No matter how trustworthy your caretaker may seem, it’s never a bad idea to at least have a safety blanket so you know if things are going awry at home, and that there is evidence to point to if the caretaker is accused of abuse and subsequently denies it.

Take Notes On What Your Babysitter Is Doing Right (Or Wrong)

Of course, on the other hand, your babysitter might be doing a great job of taking care of your kids, or the caregiver might be taking great care of your elderly loved ones in your stead. It’s nice to have video to look back on to identify what these things might be, and to incorporate positives into your routine when you’re handling your children/elderly, and to serve as discussion points for the caretaker once you have spotted them doing something wrong, or inappropriate for the situation. Having these discussions will help you and the caretaker both, so that you can all improve on how to best go about taking care of your loved ones.
